Linea alba buccalis

A white stripe that occurs in the buccal mucosal region along the occlusal plane is referred to as linea alba buccalis or intercalary line. In most cases it is bilateral. The condition is frequent and physiological. It represents normal epithelium with hyperorthokeratosis, typically associated with cheek and lip biting and sucking. It is possible to regress spontaneously and no intervention is induced. back
