Chronic ulcerative stomatitis

CUS is an autoimmune disease with specific antibodies directed against a part of the epithelium. It shows painful, erosive, ulcerative lesions which are mostly located on the tongue and gingiva but also possible in all oral mucosal surfaces mainly among older women. The diagnosis requires biopsy and direct immunofluorescence examination. Therapy with hydroxychloroquine provides the best results. back
