The minor aphtha, alternatively called Mikulicz's aphtha or mild aphthous ulcer, is with about 80 percent the most common among all the aphthous lesions. Its diameter is not more than 10mm and it is mostly located on the labial mucosa but is possible to occur in every nonkeratinized mucosa of the mouth. Minor aphthaes take 10-14 days to heal and do not leave any scar.
