Uvula bifida

The bifid or cleft uvula is the mildest form of the more severe manifestation of the congenital palatine cleft or also called palatoschisis. The cleft can involve not only a part but, at times, also the entire length of the uvula. This harmless malformation, which occurs in circa 1 per cent of the general population neither inhibits speech nor swallowing functions and does, therefore, not require therapy. back
